Renowned singer-songwriter is coming to White Rock

Music lovers should keep Friday, May 11th free as White Rock’s famous Blue Frog Studios is getting ready for a great night to remember!

Direct from Austin Texas, get ready to experience renowned guitar prodigy and gifted singer-songwriter, Ian Moore. This prolific singer-songwriter has performed on tour with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and ZZ Top and recently as a sideman for Jason Mraz.

With 5 Top 20 Billboard hits and eight studio albums to his credit, Moore never fails to mesmerize critics and audiences alike with his ever-evolving riveting live performances. Don’t miss this rare solo.

On the same bill will be BC guitar whizz, Jason Buie. This Vancouver-based guitarist, singer and songwriter has been performing live since the age of sixteen.

He has performed throughout Canada, Europe, the U.S. and Japan. Along the way he has played with such artists as blues legend Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor, The Jeff Healey Band, John Mayall, The Powder Blues Band, Big Dave Mclean, and Jerry Doucette.

South Surrey and White Rock Art Society presents “Bold Transformations”

This is your chance to obtain some original artwork from some of BC’s finest artists!

The South Surrey and White Rock Art Society presents “Bold Transformations” – a show and sale of original artwork on through the end of April.

Artists have interpreted the theme using oil, acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. The works represent aspects of change in our world and feature the use of bold strokes and colours. The pieces were chosen for the show by popular vote of the membership.

“Bold Transformations” is open daily during April from 10 am to 3:30 pm at the Newton Cultural Centre, 13530 72 Avenue, Surrey.

You are also invited to meet the artists at a reception to be held at the Centre on Sat. Apr. 14th from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.

White Rock's Small Ritual Coffee Society

Looking for a morning (or afternoon or evening!) coffee boost? Then why not visit White Rock’s own Small Ritual Coffee Society.

Their coffee is sustainably grown, ethically sourced, locally roasted, pressed with care and served with pride!

But this is not your average coffee shop – as a registered non-profit society, revenue generated at Small Ritual does not benefit an individual, share holders or an organization. Even most of their staff are volunteers!

It is the goal of Small Ritual Coffee Society to encourage and promote local artists in their pursuit of creating and exhibiting quality, original art work. Small Ritual also wants to give the local community opportunities to enjoy good, local art, meet the artist behind the art, and learn about the story behind the artist’s works.

They also have some great weekly events with Nerd Night on Fridays (where you can play board games) and live music on Sundays.

What’s even better? It’s just down the road from White Rock’s new townhomes at Pier 16!
